Plaka beach
One of the most beautiful of Pelions many gorgeous white sandy beaches, Plaka lies on the Eastern foothills of Mt Pelion, adjacent to the tourist village of Agios Ioannis. In former times Ag Ioannis was a sleepy fishing village, but in the past two decades has grown to become Eastern Pelion’s favorite beach for Greeks on their summer holidays in August coming from Athens, Thessaloniki and Volos. In fact, Plaka is only one of the three beaches of Ag Ioannis, the other two being Papa Nego (on the south end of the village) and Ag Ioannis main beach in the heart of the village. On many of the walks we end on Plaka, Papa Nero or Damouhari beach for a picnic lunch and our afternoon swim.
