I passionately believe that to change ourselves, our relationships with each other and the natural world, we must start from our perception of and interaction with our own bodies.
Since 1972 I’ve worked as a performance director, performer, musician and community artist running and developing a number of UK based performance and workshop companies including Skin and Bones, Puppets & People and Heart Performance.
I’ve lectured in performing arts at Newcastle, North Tyneside and Durham Colleges of Further Education and Northumbria University and taught Yoga and Tai Chi in Adult Education and for Her Majesty’s Prison Service.
I’ve also worked as a freelance creative practitioner developing, producing and coordinating a wide variety of performance and arts projects in schools, community centres and festivals with many children, young people and adults of all ages.
For over 20 years I have been actively involved in developing and participating in the 5 Rhythms Movement Practice of Gabrielle Roth. I am part of the “Live Rhythms” group of musicians and dancers in Northeast England exploring the connections between live music and 5 Rhythms Movement Practice.
I play a number of musical instruments including sitar, saxophones, djembe and hand percussion.
I am a visual artist creating digital and hand drawn mandalas for over 40 years. My work can be seen at www.naturemandala.com.
