The goal of insight meditation, also called Vipassana, is freeing oneself from over-conditioning.
The de-conditioning is liberating, as it gives you more choice possibilities.
The path towards de-conditioning is remarkable, interesting, and a source of joy. Also it brings triple peace: with ourselves, others, and the world. This nurtures unconditional love: being able to give without needing something back, which is crucial for the unfolding of our relationships.
All living beings are conditioned. Already a unicellular organism reacts differently to nearby nutrition or poison: in approaching or avoiding. This primitive form of desire and aversion enhances the survival chances of the organism.
Sometimes an organism may be over-conditioned, we may notice this in ourselves as well, but cannot help repeating the behaviour pattern. This creates in us suffering.
Humans have the capacity to de-condition within their lifetime, so that they are no longer subject to their over-conditioning and the resulting suffering.
THE TRAINING OF VIPASSANA
mainly consists of walking, sitting, and some work meditation (the latter mainly preparing food and some other help in the center). The meditation starts with the sunrise at 6 o’clock and finishes within lunch-time at 13:30. Every morning each participant will have the opportunity to a personal interview with Henk.
During the afternoon there is occasion to go to the beach or to rest and contemplate in the peaceful surroundings of the Campus. This form of Vipassana-lite gives you the possibility to apply the fruit of a morning insight directly into your daily actions and your communication with others.
After every dinner there will be a dhamma-talk to conclude the day.
AT THE END OF THE RETREAT THERE IS OPPORTUNITY TO PRACTICE DANA (GENEROSITY) TOWARDS THE TEACHER
The 7th is arrival day with check-in in the afternoon, registration and the welcome meal at 20:30. From the 8th onward the silent retreat takes place in the morning from 06:00 – 13:30, the afternoons are integration time with respectful speech and also beach time!
At the end of the retreat, you have the opportunity to offer Dhana to the teacher.
