Explorations in Painting and Drawing
with Michael Gale and Sabine Schröpel
May 30 - June 6, 2026
This week-long retreat is a playful way to explore your creativity through painting, drawing, collage, mark making and other creative processes all within the beautiful surrounding of the Kalikalos community.
Our workshop will enable you to:
- explore your creativity;
- experiment with a wide range of art materials;
- take your own artistic endeavours forward;
- find playful ways into your creative potential, which may have previously been discouraged;
- work with others and have fun.

Each day begins with a short warm-up activity which might involve body work, sound or gentle movement. This enables participants to play and follow their own creative impulses, and allow for inspiration to emerge. We introduce two different art making activities each morning. As experienced facilitators we are sensitive to individual needs, so the themes for our art-making may arise from the group, your own individual process or from the rich and inspiring land- and seascapes surrounding us.
What might you take home from our workshop:
- a collection of interesting art work;
- new experiences of working collaboratively;
- inspiration from the beautiful climate, landscapes and connections with others;
- an easier access to your creativity, and a lessoning of associated stress.
We provide all materials and equipment.
We work quietly in a small group. Anyone can take part, regardless of experience – all you need is a willingness to experiment.

This is a part workshop, part holiday, part community experience at Kalikalos, located in the beautiful nature of Greece’s Pelion Peninsula. Kalikalos is nestled in a wild chestnut forest, offering simplicity in nature. The centre is just a short drive to the beaches, or a 40 min downhill walk through the forest.
Mornings will be for the workshop sessions, while the afternoons are free to explore, swim, hike, or do nothing! It’s a great place to unwind and be nourished by both nature and community.
As part of the Kalikalos community experience, we’ll start our week with gathering in circle with the wider community and close it with a fireside circle on the last evening.
